Historic Homes Tour
A long standing fixture in the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood. Homeowners
throughout the Historic Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood open their
homes to the public, showcasing a variety of restoration and rehabilitation
work from gutting bathrooms to the painstaking restoration of a hand-painted
canvas parlor ceiling. The 2007 Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association
will hold its Historic Homes Tour on the weekend of May 19th & 20th.
Advanced tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the offices of
the Northeast News, 5715 St. John Ave. or email us at: info@scarrittneighborhood.org
The Northeast Fall Festival
This free event comes at one of our favorite times of the year! The
air is cool and the fall colors are just beginning. What better time
to get out and see what the Northeast has to offer! The Northeast Fall
Festival has become a much-anticipated tradition among residents and
visitors alike, and this year's event will be no exception!
The event will again be held at Concourse Park this fall. Activities
will include carnival with rides and games, live music both day and
night and lots of booths providing crafts, wonderful food, and information
about Northeast attractions. This is the place to be in late September!
Trick or Treat in Historic Northeast
This one is a real crowd-pleaser! The concept is simple: Just before
Halloween the homes along Gladstone Blvd. are provided with free, safe,
candy and treats purchased by, and donated to, Old Northeast, Inc. (an
area not-for-profit corporation). Then, on Halloween night, children
from all over Kansas City come to experience the holiday in the environment
in which it was intended; in a neighborhood, going house to house, collecting
safe candy and treats. Old Northeast, Inc. hires off-duty police to
see that the children are protected, and each participating house is
marked with a special sign to ensure that no one strays beyond our area.
Last Halloween over 8,000 people had the time of their lives! Don't
miss it!
