Leslie Caplan and Richard Plackemeier
Northeast Area-Wide Cleanup Saturday, 10/29, 8am to noon

This time there will be less focus on raking, more on pickup around
the neighborhood.
Leslie and Richard will be distributing the blue trashbags - these are
picked up regardless of location at no extra charge.  We are looking
for neighborhood residents to volunteer to take ownership of a crew
and  a street.
Leslie and Richard will be at the Concourse that morning and will
serve as the point of contact that morning.

Start telling neighbors now and contact Leslie with location of any
large pickups or neighbors needing help with cleanup.  There was
discussion approaching neighbors needing help with their yards and
asking if they wanted to be added to a list of homes for the
volunteers to visit the morning of the cleanup.

Richard (with Mike and Jeff) will lead a team of volunteers cleaning
up the Benton Circle and continuing to the Colonnade overlook.
Richard will also serve as the point of contact for dispatching trucks
and trailers for hauling brush or trash from homes to the dumpsters.

There was discussion of a new program the city will be starting which
offers a reward for tires turned in.  More details to follow as they
are shared.

Leslie distributed a flyer reading roughly as follows:

Take advantage of this cleanup:
• Bulky Item Curbside Pickup:  Residents may place bulky items
curbside for pick-up at no charge.  You must contact Leslie by 10/17
and place your items curbside no sooner than 10/27.  Contact Leslie at
ldcis...@gmail.com or 816-326-8669.
• Brush and Trash:  Dumpsters will be available at Concourse Park and
Budd Park.
• Tires:  A trailer for used tires will be available at Budd Park.
• Be a Street Leader:  Residents may volunteer to lead a team of
volunteers and focus on targeted area.  Street Leaders will be
provided with "blue bags" which may be left on any curb for the city
to pick up at no charge on their next scheduled day.  Contact Leslie
to volunteer.

Volunteer:
• Come to Concourse Park to join a team.
• Pickups and trailers are needed to assist neighbors with hauling to
the dumpsters.
• Bring your yard tools.
• We are expecting help from outside the neighborhood, co-ordinated by
Katie (email: Preside...@gmail.com).  Contact Katie if your
employer is looking for a community-based team-building exercise.

Halloween Update

We have run into trouble getting the train back.  We can have it
again, but only under new rules.  We need to provide a neighborhood
volunteer to as the conductor of the train.  The conductor may be
asked to assist in the loading and unloading of kids and making sure
everyone gets a turn.
There will be inflatables on the street.  Firedancing at Askew and
Gladstone.  Again, thanks to Parisole Arts.
We have a need for day-of event  volunteers to keep watch over the
entry points  to the car-free zone.  Need to  have at least eight
locations monitored for as much as possible of the 4: to 9 duration.
To volunteer, contact Amanda at stinger...@yahoo.com

Playground update:  Mark Courtney
Mark updated the group on efforts underway and ideas being shared by
residents.  It was agreed after brief discussion to table this update
as an agenda item for the November community meeting.

The property and Gladstone and Indiana is applying for rezoning (Long
garage)  Wanting  zoning changed R1 to zoned  for  multi.  Jeff to
research this further and keep the Board advised.  If we resist the
change, the house may sit vacant.

A new resident, Andres March, introduced himself and volunteered to
help work towards a playground, dog park, and help with adding a web
site and a Google Calendar.
