Scarritt Neighborhood Assn Meeting Minutes Date: 11/07/2011 Board Members: * Adam: President * Will: Vice President/Legislation Liaison - absent * Mickie: Treasurer * Jason: Beautification committee * Mark Courtney: Playground/Secretary KCPD Officers Williams and Allen visiting: The officers took questions from the community: - 3rd and Mersington - gunfire, individual being targeted. the 'gang unit' needs to do something about this, not the local officers. - Upon residents expressing frustration with known criminals returning to the neighborhood, the officers encouraged us to contact the people who are in charge of funding for jail space. City Council and County Executive are good places to start. - there was some discussion of what could be done to reduce the permanent criminal population, but nothing proposed for n.a. action. Cliff Drive gates have been damaged. They will soon be permanently closed for the winter. There was some discussion of how best to manage car and non-car traffic on Cliff Drive with the goal of maximizing citizen use and crime deterrence. No specific recommendations were made for vote of the community. Kent Dicus and Jessica Bossert Pendleton Heights home tour :: looking for volunteers, 3 hour shift on Saturday www.pendletonheights.org for information Update from the Museum The museum was featured in KC Spaces magazine. They are continuing to promote the museum and receive media attention. The next phase of the refurbishment project is unscheduled. Holiday Open House preparations are underway. Playground :: full update next month Review of the cleanup - an amazing success. Big thanks to the city workers, Leslie, and Richard. Board Membership :: there will be turnover for next board - Mickie, Malenda, and Mark will not be board members next term. There will be elections in January. Citizens may run for a particular position, or simply serve on the board to champion a cause. Beginning in 2012, there will be a fee assessed to board members to cover the cost of liability insurance. Contact Adam if you are interested in being on the board.
